11 Ways To Show Your Love On Valentines Day In NYC

The ways New Yorkers put their spin on everything - even Valentine’s Day is nothing short of amusing if not completely entertaining.  Exhibit A: what are the odds of finding love on a crowded NYC street or subway? Pretty solid it seems since there is no shortage of love stories - or rap music - that boasts about finding the apple of their eye in the Big Apple.  Take Amy Schumer’s “Train Wreck” or Will Smith’s “Hitch,” for example.  Both highlight the lure of Madison Square Garden as a prime locale for date night while the timeless classic “Coming to America” (the original not the second one) proves that Cupid can strike in fast food spots of all places or the most lovingly titled borough Queens for that matter.

But if you’re new to NYC or simply looking to mix things up this Valentine’s Day - solo, with your matter half, your for-the-moment person, here are a few ideas for things to do in NYC that hit the spot, kinda like Cupid’s arrow:

Doors Off Helicopter Over NYC

  1. Enjoy a helicopter ride over NYC. You can buy tickets from us in our NYC from Above package … while they last. You can buy the package here.

Airs Champagne Parlor
  1. A trip to a champagne lounge will class up any V-Day plans in the city. Toast to your love, pop the bottles and enjoy the bubbly at Air's champagne parlor. Airs is located on MacDougal St. You can get the map here.

Romantic Photoshoot
  1. Take romantic pictures with a photographer. Valentines day is once a year and if you’re visiting NYC for V-Day what better way to remember the occasion than with some professional shots.

iL Buco Italian Restaurant
  1. Enjoy a romantic dinner. There’s lots of good Italian restaurants in the city, but iL Buco is our favorite. The food is extremely fresh and their signature dishes like the Zuppa with Spanish beans and the Croquetas with house-cured salt cod fritters is everything good. Visit the website.

Westlight rooftop chalets
  1. Make it spa day on a roof. These outdoor chalet spas feel just like a piece of Scandvania is visiting NYC. They’re on the 23rd floor of the William Vale hotel in Willamsburgh at their Westlight rooftop bar. Visit the Westlight website here.

Making pizza
  1. Take a pizza making class. Pizza, pizza, pizza. This is what the city specializes in. Learn how to make it from a pro. You can check for classes here or here.

Museum of Sex
  1. Visit the Museum Of Sex. This is not a porn museum so get that out of your head. The museum explores sexuality, how we express our sexuality and how human that makes us. These fun interactive exhibits are guaranteed to spark a connection with you and your partner. Buy a ticket from the site here or as part of one of the city passes here

Broadway Shows open in 2022
  1. Take in a Broadway show. Broadway is back and there are lots of shows to take in. From classics like The Lion King, pre-pandemic favorites like Come From Away and new hits like MJ The Musical.

Carolines On Broadway
  1. Laugh your ass off at a comedy show. Carolines on Broadway has a comedy showcase of special hand picked comedians performing on Valentines Day. There’s 2 shows at 7pm & 9:45pm. You can buy tickets here.

Roses in your room
  1. Turn your hotel room into a romantic paradise. Here's a local tip: every deli and every street corner in NYC is selling roses for $5 valentines day weekend. Spend $50 and buy a bucket. Spread them on the bed or leave them in the bath and surprise your partner with romantic decor.

Jazz artist Nella
  1. Enjoy live jazz. Blue Note has a special Valentine's Day performance by Nella. Only 2 shows to hear this beautiful Latin voice. Buy tickets early for this one. You can get tickets here. Get a taste of her music with her break out hit Me Llaman Nella.
