5 Best Family-Friendly Mid-Range Hotels in Times Square (With Kid-Friendly Eats)

Planning a family trip to New York City is exciting—but choosing the right hotel in Times Square can feel overwhelming. This area has dozens of hotels, and nobody wants to gamble with their family’s comfort, convenience, or budget.

That’s why I’ve rounded up five of the best family-friendly mid-range hotels in Times Square, each offering the right balance of price, amenities, and location. Plus, I’ll share kid-friendly restaurants within walking distance so your family can eat well without venturing too far after a long day of sightseeing.

View from NYC Hotel

If it’s your first time reading our blog, here’s an introduction. We are a NY-based travel service that pairs travelers with local Experience Designers who create custom travel guides. Each guide includes a recommended itinerary, reservation list, and custom map to help you maximize your time.

One of the first questions our guests ask us is “Is this hotel right for my trip?”. And the answer is always … “it depends”. Right looks different for everyone, but for a family trip most people evaluate hotels along through a standard criteria which I used when coming up with this list.

Hotel Critieria:

When evaluating these NYC family hotels near Times Square, I focused on:

  • Price: Mid-range pricing during both peak and off-peak seasons.

  • Family Amenities: Fridge or mini-cooler, cribs/pack-and-plays, breakfast options, and fitness centers for parents.

  • Guest Reviews: No recent patterns of negative feedback.

  • Location: All within easy reach of Times Square.

The one thing I did not do is choose hotels based on nearby attractions because everyone’s activity list is different and the best way to maximize your time is to group your activies by neighborhood. Which is why we built a free trip planner. Just add your activities to the map to see where they’re located. Then when you add your hotel you can see where your hotel is in realtion to your plans for the day. It’s simple.

While I’m not covering attractions in detail here, I did highlight nearby kid-friendly eats for each hotel.

Radio City Apartments is a historic property dating back to 1904, renovated in 2020 to blend classic New York charm with modern convenience. Its location is unbeatable—right next to Rockefeller Center and Radio City Music Hall—perfect for holiday trips and catching the Rockettes.

Family Perks:

  • Spacious rooms with full kitchens for snacks and quick meals.

  • Large enough to spread out—great for families needing extra space.

  • No rewards program, but the value comes from room size and location.

Kid-Friendly Eats Nearby:

Walk five minutes to Ellen’s Stardust Diner, where singing servers might belt out your child’s favorite Disney song.

Homewood Suites Midtown

2. Homewood Suites by Hilton
