It’s Harlem Restaurant Week and there’s a chance to eat and some amazing places in Harlem for low deals. Harlem Restaurant Week runs until March 27th, 2022. If you’re in the area make sure to support the local eateries which are some of the best in the city. Here’s a list of 6 of our favorites.
Opened in 1962, Sylvia’s is a tradition in Harlem. Celebrities, politicians and even monarchs visited the facility to taste the iconic southern soul food, The fried catfish, BBQ baby back ribs and cornbread is amazing. Sunday brings gospel brunch, an energetic experience that is the perfect time to try chicken and waffles along with endless mimosas.
Marcus Samuelsson’s restaurants have been a Harlem favorite since 2010. Elegant decor and 5 star dishes like shrimp and grits, seafood jambalaya and chicken with red velvet waffles are just a few of the standout dishes on the menu. After President Obama visited in 2011, his meal was added to the menu as the Obama Short Ribs which is served with lobster, biscuits and bok choy.
Sisters combines traditional Caribbean flavors with American southern dishes. They have chicken for all preferences, curried, jerked and caramelized with sides to match. With standouts being the mac and cheese, collard greens and rice and peas. The mac and cheese has a crispy crust and the rice and peas is flavored with coconut to bring out the Caribbean flavor.
Tsion Cafe is an Ethiopian / Israeli restaurant and may have the best service of all on this list. This small intimate venue is below a small residential building and the front looks something like a dentist practice. The dinning area is an inviting space with murals decorating the walls. The menu includes a mix of Ethiopian and Israeli dishes like shakshuka, chicken stew and a great vegetarian combo that comes with injera, the traditional Ethiopian bread served with meals.
Archer and Goat lives up to its ambitions as a restaurant and bar with a dishes inspired by Puerto Rican, Ecuadorian, and Bengali flavors paired perfectly with beer and whiskey selection. Our favorite items are the a burger topped with queso blanco and carne asada with sofrito ketchup, chicken vindalu arepas and toast.
