Hangwai is one of the top vegetarian restaurants in the city so for the plant based eaters this is a true gem. Located right near the Empire Statue Building and Madison Square Garden, this Korean vegetarian restaurant is showing all customers that Korean food is more than just fried chicken and bulgogi.
La Grade Boucherie has been on a must see list ever since the pandemic started because of the beautiful decor. Their innovative dinning space is larger and more elegant than most places in midtown. This french restaurant is all about the meats here so get ready to indulge in escargot, croque madame and monsieur, steak frites, duck confit and coq au vin and for $39 for lunch this is a great deal.
Anyone staying uptown needs to have Sylvia’s on their goto list. First opened in 1962 Sylvia’s is basically an institution in the area looking for soul food and brunch options. While Sylvia’s may not be a hidden gem we added it to the go to list because you really can’t go wrong with a meal here during restaurant week. Plus there is live music Wednesday’s and a Gospel brunch on Sunday’s.
There’s some places that just drip NYC. Tavern On The Green is definitely one of these places. An icon of NYC from the old days, Tavern On The Green is located directly in Central Park and the ambiance will make you feel like you’ve been transported to a romantic movie but considering it’s offering a three course $39 lunch and three course $59 dinner, this is a great option for visitors.
Our last restaurant is Han Dynasty. It’s not an icon like Tavern or beautiful french decor, but it’s damn good chinese food and based on the questions we’ve gotten from other travelers, damn good chinese is on a lot of people’s list. They have 2 locations, one on the upper west side and one in downtown Brooklyn. Lunch is $29 and dinner is $39 from the Szechuan menu. Eat good.
